Awqaf bans iftar feasts in mosques

local Arabic newspaper Al-jarida Reported that The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has circulated to imams and muezzins of all mosques in all governorates a ban on holding iftar banquets inside mosques, with only distributing ready-made meals at their external entrances, stressing that it will take legal measures against anyone who violates this circular.

According to the circular, of which the newspaper obtained a copy, the “Endowments” also prohibited the establishment of Ramadan tents within the mosques’ borders, while never allowing the delivery of electricity for mosques to these tents adjacent to their walls, calling on everyone to adhere to what was stated in the circular in order to avoid to legal accountability.

Sources from the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs confirmed that the ministry will not tolerate any violation of the circular, explaining that it came for organizational and health reasons, especially since the repercussions of “Corona” still affect some sectors in the ministry, adding that the ban on setting up Ramadan tents within the borders of mosques. , to prevent gatherings in closed places, especially since the Corona virus and its variants are still present, although there has been a noticeable decline in the number of daily infections, and a return to most activities and cycles to what they were before the emergence of the pandemic.
