What is the appropriate age for a child to have a smart phone?

With the technical development in the world, parents often become increasingly confused about the appropriate time to buy a smartphone for their child, especially after such technologies have been used extensively in the educational process also since the outbreak of the Corona virus.

A recent survey published Thursday showed that almost 50% of parents in Germany intend to buy a smartphone for their child, or have already bought it, between the ages of 6 and 11.

And the survey conducted by the YouGov Institute to measure opinion indicators stated that 4% of the parents surveyed intend or have already given their child a smartphone earlier than that between the ages of 3 and 5 years.

On the other hand, 36% of those surveyed said that it would be preferable for it to take a longer time, and that they considered the age between 12 and 14 years the right time for a child to get a smart phone, according to the survey.

Regarding digital and other media such as television or the Internet and social networking sites, the majority of parents surveyed in Germany stated that they have an overview of the media contents that their children use and control over. This applies to children up to 14 years old, according to the survey.

It should be noted that this survey included a total of 1,007 parents in Germany, and was conducted between November 9 and 1
