The Minister of Public Works and the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Rana Al-Faris, affirmed that the speed of digital transformation is an inevitable necessity after the end of the emerging Corona virus “Covid-19” to build a better future with the capabilities of Kuwaiti youth.
This came in a press statement by Minister Al-Faris yesterday, on the occasion of the launch of the eighth e-government forum next Tuesday, which will last for two days, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, who Minister Al-Faris delegated to open the forum.
Minister Al-Faris indicated that she is fully aware of the amount of effort required in the new ministry, explaining that the tasks are great and the challenge is not easy, especially with the important roles of the telecommunications and information technology sectors in activating the digital transformation paths for the state and society in the State of Kuwait.
She added that it is not clear to everyone the size of the important role of the telecommunications sector and the information technology sector in contributing to the rationalization of state expenditures by harnessing technology to provide advanced electronic services, as well as in protecting society, its institutions, interests and assets through the capabilities of cybersecurity, which have become a national matter par excellence.
She said, “We will, God willing, take advantage of what we have now and build together for a better future, benefiting from the achievements of global information and communication technology, while we develop the capabilities of Kuwaiti youth to assume their responsibilities,” she said.
For his part, the head of the Kuwaiti Public Authority for Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Salem Al-Athaina, in a similar statement welcomed the step taken by the political leadership to establish the Ministry of State for Communications and Information Technology.
Al-Athaina expressed his aspiration to work hand in hand with Minister Al-Faris to achieve the desired ambitions of this step, hoping that her efforts would contribute to supporting the implementation of many vital projects that the authority had completed all its preparatory steps in accordance with its strategy.
