The Arabic local newspaper Aljarida reported that The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Traffic and Operations, Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, activated Ministerial Resolution No. 270 of 2020 amending the provisions of Ministerial Resolution No. 81 of 1976 regarding the executive regulations of the Traffic Law, and issued instructions to all traffic departments in the six governorates, in addition to the traffic departments In the service centers, by not issuing driving licenses to foreign students registered in public and private universities, and applied institutes, in addition to not issuing driving licenses to male and female nurses working in the Ministry of Health and private hospitals.
Al-Sayegh said, in a special statement to Al-Jarida, that the ministerial decision was issued on March 18, that is, at the beginning of the Corona pandemic, and it was not activated due to the health conditions that the country went through, and the accompanying closure of government departments in the country, pointing out that after Starting to receive the auditors, based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers regarding the gradual return of life, the decision was made to not issue driving licenses to foreign students, male and female nurses.
He pointed out that the decision excluded the children, husbands, wives, widow and divorced women of the Kuwaiti citizen, and illegal residents who hold valid cards issued by the central apparatus to treat their conditions, and valid health insurance cards, indicating that students, male and female nurses who obtained driving licenses in previous times, will not apply the decision. They must be withdrawn from them, explaining that the decision will be applied to new applications submitted after the issuance of Ministerial Resolution No. 270 of 2020.
Al-Sayegh said that the number of driving licenses for citizens and registered in the computer amounted to 648 thousand and 383 licenses, while the number of valid driving licenses granted to residents reached 822 thousand and 794 licenses, indicating that the number of vehicles registered in the computer and valid insurance amounted to two million 293 thousand and 785 vehicles. .
