The Ministry of Social Affairs proposed to the Union of Cooperative Societies to exempt the branches invested in cooperative societies from the rental value, according to 4 categories, according to the various stages of the return of life, due to the Corona pandemic.

The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs for Cooperation Affairs Salem Al-Rashidi said, in a letter to the President of the Federation of Associations, that this came within the framework of the Cabinet’s handling of the legal effects resulting from the precautionary measures taken by the state, to confront the spread of the new Corona virus on contracts of use of state property, and directing Ministries and government agencies towards exempting the tenants contracting with them from the rental value, or fees for licenses to use units, public markets and others, whose activities have been suspended as a precaution.

Al-Rashidi referred to the book of the Ministry of Finance, which indicated that all contracting with state property, including cooperative societies, are included in the exemption from paying the rental value owed to the state, from April 1 until the end of the precautionary measures.

The affairs based on the plan set by the Council of Ministers for a gradual return to life, in accordance with the various stages, proposing that the branches invested in cooperative societies be exempted from the rental value, according to the following: The first phase, which is partial ban (from March 22, before the ban was approved) A total of one day) the implementation of the Kuwait Municipality’s decision according to the following:

  • 50 percent exemption for the activities permitted to practice according to the municipality’s decision.

100% exemption for activities that the municipality did not allow to perform.

The Ministry stated that the second stage: is the stage of imposing a total ban (from the date of May 10 to the end of last year), all activities are exempted by 100 percent, and in the third phase, which is the phase of partial ban and return to work (from June 1 to August 30 last), with an exemption All activities from the rental value at 50 percent, except for those who are not authorized to practice such as salons and tailors, so they are 100 percent exempt.

As for the fourth stage, which is from this September, the rental value will be paid to all the branches invested in the cooperative societies.
